Cognition (PSYC208) - Level 6 on Campus
This is an introductory course in cognitive psychology: the science of how the mind and brain are organised to produce intelligent human thought processes. Topics include visual cognition, attention, memory, problem solving and expertise, reasoning and decision making, and language comprehension.
Introductory Cognitive and Behavioural Neuroscience (PSYC215) - Level 6 Distance
This course covers cognitive and behavioral neuroscience, along with developmental neuroscience and neuropharmacology. It explores brain development and changes influenced by sensory input, learning, decision-making, and actions. Students learn about various neuroscience techniques and consider how genetics and environment impact brain development. Ethical regulations regarding the treatment of animal models and humans in research is also covered.

Adjunct Marker - Online Teaching Delivery
As an adjunct marker for the Open Polytechnic, I assess learner submissions, providing constructive feedback to support their academic development. I collaborate with course leaders to ensure consistency in marking practices and maintain high-quality standards. My role also includes relief teaching when needed and reviewing the work of other markers to promote fairness and alignment with course objectives.
Adult Psychopathology (73327) - Level 7
This course offers an in-depth understanding of various adult psychological disorders, focusing on their causes, assessment, and treatment. Key topics include anxiety disorders (such as agoraphobia, panic, PTSD, GAD, and OCD), depression, bipolar disorder, suicide, schizophrenia, alcohol-related issues, eating disorders, and personality disorders. The course also explores bicultural and ethical considerations in psychological interventions, providing a comprehensive foundation for understanding and addressing these conditions. .
Child and Adolescent Psychopathology (73322) - Level 7
An introduction to child and adolescent psychopathology. It aims to extend knowledge and understanding of core psychological concepts and theories in numerous issues related to the psychological disorders experienced across childhood and adolescence.
Organisational Psychology (73324) - Level 7
This course explores psychological concepts relevant to the workplace, focusing on enhancing skills for those in positions of responsibility. Key topics include organization theory, the individual in organizations, personnel psychology, group dynamics, and organizational change.
Thought, Memory, and Language (73212) - Level 6
An introduction to the study of knowing. This includes how we acquire information from our environment, store it in memory, and use it to communicate, solve problems, and make decisions.
Understanding Mental Health (73223) - Level 6
Develops knowledge of some of the major psychological disorders and responses to them. Understanding of how working in the mental health field can be structured and the agencies and institutions that are part of these structures.
Child and Adolescent Issues (73221) - Level 6
This course equips learners to work with children, adolescents, and families in Aotearoa New Zealand. It covers key issues requiring intervention, including Māori perspectives, and explores how whānau, social, and legal factors impact young people. The course also examines government agencies, systems, and ethical and legal requirements, helping learners critically analyse issues and understand relevant interventions.
Counselling Theory (73197) - Level 5
This course covers basic counselling microskill theory, for example, establishing rapport and reflective attending. It also looks at different types of therapy, the counselling relationship, boundaries, self-care, referral, and supervision.
Communication and Relationship Management (73130) - Level 5
This first-year introductory online course is for people interested in a career working with people. This could be as a primary care worker, counsellor, support worker, mediator, or facilitator. It is also suitable for people wanting work in a role that needs strong interpersonal relationship management skills, such as human resources, public relations, supervision, or management.
Review Marking
Reviewing marked assessments examined by other adjunct markers for interrater reliability, marking quality, and consistency. Providing coaching and support to new adjunct markers and reporting on student learning issues.
