Individual differences in Attention, Language Comprehension, Cognitive Impairment, and Electroencephalography (EEG) Features


This research aims to explore individual differences in a person’s thinking that can be manipulated under their own control. We are interested in finding out how people differ in attentional capabilities, language comprehension, and cognitive screening measures related to features seen in their electrical brain activity using EEG. The information from this study will help to ascertain replicability of the Think/No-Think (T/NT) task as part of a larger international multisite study . The T/NT task involves actively thinking or not-thinking about a particular stimulus when prompted. A story comprehension test and a general cognitive screening test will also be administered to recruit other brain processes such as orientation, memory, language and visuospatial function. Performance across tasks will be used to explore potential cognitive areas suitable for developing new methods to screen for early stages of dementia.
